Welcome Letter

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

It is our great pleasure to welcome you to the Mayo Clinic Nephrology Update 2026, to be held on June 26–27, 2026, in Tróia, Portugal.

This meeting has been carefully designed to deliver a broad, contemporary, and scientifically rigorous program that reflects the most relevant advances in clinical nephrology. Over two intensive days, the program will cover key areas including immune-mediated glomerular diseases, IgA nephropathy, lupus nephritis, ANCA-associated vasculitis, acute kidney injury and nephrotoxicity, genomics and omics in nephrology, cutting-edge immune therapies, kidney transplantation, and the growing role of artificial intelligence in clinical practice. The emphasis throughout is on translating scientific discovery into meaningful improvements in patient care.

We are particularly proud of the exceptional faculty participating in this update. The program brings together internationally recognized experts from Mayo Clinic and leading academic centers across Europe and beyond. Their collective expertise ensures in-depth, state-of-the-art lectures, case-based discussions, and thoughtful panels that will foster learning, debate, and collaboration at the highest level.

Beyond the scientific content, this meeting also offers a unique opportunity to engage with colleagues in an environment that encourages reflection and interaction. The Tróia Península, with its natural beauty and serene coastal setting, provides an ideal backdrop for high-level scientific exchange while also allowing time to relax and connect outside the lecture hall.

We look forward to welcoming you to Tróia for what promises to be an inspiring and memorable scientific meeting.

With kind regards,

Karina Soto, MD, PhD

About Tróia

Tróia Peninsula, Portugal

Tróia is a coastal peninsula located in Setúbal, Portugal, south of Lisbon, across the Sado River. It is known for its beautiful beaches, clear waters, and natural landscapes.

Tróia stretches for several miles along the Atlantic Ocean and is a popular destination for both tourists and locals. The area has a rich historical background, including important Roman ruins from an ancient settlement once used for fish-sauce production (garum).

These ruins show that Tróia was an important economic center during Roman times.

How to get there

Closest Airport

Lisbon Humberto Delgado Airport (LIS) – the main and closest airport
